“NPR On Location With Rosanne Cash” is being hosted by Michele Norris of the news program “All Things Considered.” The evening will be centered on a conversation between Cash and Norris about her life, writing and family.
Cash, the eldest daughter of the late Johnny Cash and his first wife Vivian Liberto Cash Distin, will also perform tunes from her most recent album, The List. The 2009 album features 12 tracks taken from a special list her father made her when she was 18 years old, a list he explained contained the “100 Essential Country Songs.” The List includes songs by Bob Dylan, The Carter Family and Merle Haggard and guest performances by Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Rufus Wainwright and Jeff Tweedy.
The show will wrap up with questions from the audience.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow, March 12, at 10 a.m. The tickets are priced between $35-$45, not including fees.
The event is presented by Seattle Theatre Group and being produced by NPR along with Seattle NPR Member stations KPLU and KUOW, and KOPB in Portland, Ore.
The List marks Cash’s 12th studio album (although her 1978 debut self-titled album was never released in the U.S.). Over the course of her career she has earned 11 No.1 country hit singles, 21 Top 40 country singles and two gold records in addition to a 1985 Grammy for the song “I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me” as well as nine other nominations. Cash’s memoir, "Composed," is set for released August 10 through Viking Press.
Tonight Cash performs at the KB Halle in Malmo, Sweden, followed by a round of U.S. dates. The U.S. gigs kick off March 26 at the Scottsdale Center For The Performing Arts in Arizona with 2010 shows booked through her Aug. 30-31 performances at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in Saint Paul. In 2001 Cash has a Feb. 26 show scheduled for the Corning Museum Of Glass in New York.
