Children’s music has come a long way since the days when a sappy purple dinosaur and his cult of creepy little followers ruled the pre-teen airwaves. These days choices are a lot hipper, with everyone from Barenaked Ladies to Perry Farrell getting into the act. But the coolest kids’ thing going might be Nickelodeon’s “Yo Gabba Gabba,” which just snagged New Wave icons Devo.

Mark, Jerry, Bob 1 and Bob 1 will pay a visit to Gabba Land tomorrow to perform a brand new song, “Watch Us Work It.”

The show will be broadcast on Nickelodeon at 10:30 a.m. PST and again on Nick Jr. at 1:00 p.m. PST.

For the uninitiated – or people who don’t have kids – “Yo Gabba Gabba” follows the adventures of DJ Lance Rock, Muno, Plex, Foofa, Toodee, and Brobee, mixing live-action segments (including “Mark’s Magic Pictures” which features Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh drawing pictures that spring to life) with animated sketches and musical numbers.

Since its debut in 2007, the show has become a magnet for indie bands and hip celebs. Guests who’ve dropped by include Jack Black, The Shins, Andy Samberg, Biz Markie, Shiny Toy Guns, Chromeo, Amy Sedaris, The Postmarks, Sugarland, The Roots, Sean Kingston, Of Montreal, MGMT and The Ting Tings.

Besides the U.S., “Yo Gabba Gabba” is currently watched by tykes and their parents around the globe from Australia to Israel and everywhere in between.

(By the way, did you know that two of the seemingly lobotomized tots who followed Barney around singing insipid songs were Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez?)
